Insisting on her own pliability and flexibility as an actor, Sheri has done everything from playing Little Becky Two Shoes in the National Tour of Urinetown, To channelling Kitty Genovese in the opera The Screams of Kitty Genovese, to Golde in Fiddler on The Roof, to any genre in between. She’s been happily “working class” in three productions of The Full Monty as Georgie, Sheri’s played a Bird, a Bear, a Squirrel and a Muskrat and has done extensive puppet work in both Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas AND Gabe Barres’ Tom Jones. She finally got to use used her quad rollerskating skills AND love of High Character work as Calliope in Xanadu last summer. Sheri will take on ANYTHING you give her with a little time to research and soul search.
In 2004, Sheri Sanders created an audition class in NYC called Rock The Audition: A Masterclass in Auditioning for Rock Musicals – and it became a cult hit. Since then, Sheri has become the world’s preeminent popular music repertoire coach, a Hal Leonard published author, and has taught at more than 55 musical theatre programs all over the country – instructing performers and their professors and coaches to successfully interpret all styles of popular music.
Her students have landed jobs on and off Broadway, on National Tours, and in Regional Productions of: Waitress, Spring Awakening (Revival), Kinky Boots, The Last Ship, Motown, Regina Spector’s Beauty, Jersey Boys, Diner, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, In the Heights, David Bowies’ Lazarus (to name a few). Past students have also competed on The Voice, American Idol, and The Glee Project, and she’s successfully coached students on auditions for Empire, Hamilton, Grease and Hairspray on TV.
Rock The Audition
After Hal Leonard published Sheri’s book, She realized that running to 55 schools for one, two, even three days, was a lot of fun, she couldn’t leave the program with any long lasting tools. She left Hal Leonard as an author, and created an on-line training program based on the success of her book.
