Insisting on her own pliability and flexibility as an actor, Sheri has done everything from playing Little Becky Two Shoes in the National Tour of Urinetown, To channelling Kitty Genovese in the opera The Screams of Kitty Genovese, to Golde in Fiddler on The Roof, to the company cover of BETTY RULES and CHIX6, and any and every genre in between. Sheri’s done extensive puppet work in both Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas AND Gabe Barres’ Tom Jones, and has gotten to marry her love of high character work and pop music as Calliope in Xanadu, and her debut as Rosie in ACT of Connecticuts’ inaugural production of Mamma Mia. Sheri will take on ANYTHING you give her with a little time to research and soul search.
In 2004, Sheri Sanders created an audition class in NYC called Rock The Audition: A Masterclass in Auditioning for Rock Musicals – and it became a cult hit in NYC. Since then, Sheri has become a Hal Leonard published author, and taught more than 67 musical theatre programs all over the country to successfully interpret all styles of popular music. Sheri is the world’s preeminent “rock” repertoire coach and audition cut arranger, and is now the first person in the history of musical theatre to have audition cuts on the most popular sheet music site in the world, Musicnotes.
Her students have landed jobs on and off Broadway, on National Tours, and in Regional Productions of: Waitress, Spring Awakening (Revival), Kinky Boots, The Last Ship, Motown, Regina Spector’s Beauty, Jersey Boys, Diner, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, In the Heights, David Bowies’ Lazarus (to name a few). Past students have also competed on The Voice, American Idol, and The Glee Project, and she’s successfully coached students on auditions for Empire, Hamilton, Grease and Hairspray on TV.
Rock The Audition
After Sheri’s book, She realized that running to 67 schools for one, two, even three days, was a lot of fun, she couldn’t leave the program with any long lasting tools. She left Hal Leonard as an author, and created an on-line training program for Educators, professional performers, and teens based on the success of her book.
